Laptop hung on Windows start-up logo screen, so I rebooted and ran the start-up diagnostics:
Memory Test: Passed
SMART Check: Passed
Short DST: Failed
Failure ID: GG9XU2-64R86W-MFPX0J-60RB03
Product ID: A8S60EA#ABU
I guess that I need a new hard drive, but can I recover the data from the current drive?

If you can not boot then remove the HDD and connect it to a SATA to USB connector.
Take it to any laptop/desktop and see if you can copy the DATA you need.
