Turn on laptop when closed!

HP Recommended
HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I’m trying to use my laptop connected to external monitors but when I keep it in a vertical stand and shut it down, I can’t seem to get it to turn on with the power button.  The laptop works fine if I open the lid and press the power button and then close it and put it back into the vertical stand but if I want to keep it stored in the stand, I can’t because the power button does nothing!  Please help!!!

@CCC7319

You have to open the lid to turn your machine up first.

Regards.

My wife’s HP laptop is newer and the power button powers hers on while in the stand.  Is it just my laptop in particular with this issue?
