HP Omen 15-ax203nk
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product Name HP Omen 15-ax203nk

Bios Version F.55 7 July 2020

Hello

My system is provided with 12 Go Ddr4 2400Mhz ( No dual channel ) and with a hard disk HGST 7100 traveler ( driver 2006)

(No Ssd too) I want to upgrade the memory first because my system is so slow even after reinstalling Windows10 home 64.  The memory installed are Hynix 8Go and Samsung 4Go DDr4. These Memory are CL17 2400Mhz Sodimm . I recently update the Bios to the recent version and I want to purchase  two modules 8Go to have the dual channel mode. I learn at the guide of the Omen, that I must have a ddr4 2400Mhz and for a maximun 16 GO DDr4  (2*8) but anything about the latence C L.

I m interested about HyperX impact 2400Mhz CL14 2*8 Go.

I know that the latency is agressive and may not work at CL14 with my system but I hope only that the bios will detect the memory even to work at CL17 . The most important thing that the memory works on my system.

I know that I can choose the Crucial 2400Mhz CL17 but I want to have your opinion about the HyperX  Impact because the two brands are at the same price here in Tunisia.

If you can have any advice I appreciate it.

Thanks you for your time and Cordially

The specs of your machine is

          https://support.hp.com/sg-en/product/omen-by-hp-15-ax200-laptop-pc/13810162/document/c05404783

It has 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB) (both are occupied). You can upgrade to 16GB (2 x 8GB) max using the following compatible RAM  (will run at 2400MHz). Sorry I don't know HyperX impact.

                     https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfs824a/ct12329422

        or         https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k8g26c16s4b/ct16755168

You can add M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD drive to your machine. For example

                https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p2/ct1000p2ssd8/ct17261660

    or        https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p5/ct1000p5ssd8/ct18143390

    or        https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/970-evo-nvme-m2-ssd/MZ-V7E2T0BW/

        Or similar from reputable vendors

Thanxs for your reply

My system is Hp omen 15-ax203nk and have two modules ddr4 at 2400 Mhz and a CL 17 latency : one samsung 4 giga and the second is Hynix with 8 Go. So I dont have the dual channel Mode.  Here you find the specification :

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05384912

So back to the hyperX memory 2400 Mhz created in 2017. What do you think about. Someone know about the latency CL14 compatible with the bios?  The bios will recognize the ddr4 or it crushes at startup?

So far as i know when you're upgrading the RAM, you shouldnt worry too much about CAS Latency (CL)... Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ is running at 2400 Mhz RAM.... Just buy RAM with the same frequency, and your processor will work on any CL...

If you buy CL-14 RAM and your laptop cant afford it,, it will matching with the fastest compatible CL and Mhz that you can get with your both RAM...

But, if you have 2 RAM with different Mhz and CL,, it will working to match the speed of your 'slowest RAM'... So just make sure, you have 2 RAM installed with same spec Mhz and CL....

If you're afraid that it may downgrade your performance too much,, just buy the same spec RAM (2400Mhz CL-17) with different size Gb...
