Envy360x
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been repeatedly receiving notifications that i need to update my OS in order to keep my HP support for my Envy360x. I have attempted to install the new update, Windows 10, version 1903. It has failed to install 4 times. Additionally, on the last attempt, 12/27/2019, it installed to 27% then restarted. Upon restart, I would get a continuous black screen where the HP logo would populate then a flash of a window and a notification on the bottom stating it was reverting to previous version; however, it continually did this cycle. I had to enter the system recovery through "ESC" button and had to open my computer from a previous version. I have backed up all of my files on an external hard drive but i am nervous that this will happen again upon another reboot of my system. How can I remove whatever files are on my computer with regards to this version update? It took me 3 fricking days to figure out how to even get to my desktop page to do anything on my PC.

Now everytime i restart my laptop it does the same black screen that flashes a balnk window then says undoing changes to computer then the HP logo and back to window flash, etc. etc.!!!!!! The only way I can access my desktop now is by clicking ESC button and selecting "open with different OS"!!! There are 2 choices, a blank window with no OS name which is defaulted and then windows 10. Once i click on windows 10, i can get to my desktop. **bleep**!!! Somebody Help!!!

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

None of these suggestions worked. I went back to pressing ESC and chose F11. I then went to Start with different OS. I noticed there was a choice to assign a default OS. Apparently, a "Ghost" OS, for a lack of a better term was installed during the update and it was the default Startup OS which is why all I was getting was a continuous cycle of black screen and flashes of empty windows. I made Windows 10 the default OS and now it works just fine.
