Product Name: HP Envy dv7
OS: Windows 10 Ver 6.4 (64 bit)
The laptop cannot boot up to Window Desktop after auto Windows Update. The system stuck on the black screen without open Window Desktop. When click "power" to sleep mode and click again, the mouse cursor appear on black screen. Use F10 to open Troubleshooting, open Advanced Options, but I cannot find options of "Startup Repair" and "Startup Setting" so I cannot open "Safe Mode" for fixing up procedures. It seems the hardware has no problem as I checked them by options testing through F2 and F10. I guess it is the problem of Windows, particular possible crashing on some drivers after Windows Update.
Please tell how can I open the Safe Mode to solve the problem or other method to solve the problem.

You basically can't -- open safe mode. The blinking cursor means Windows is completely corrupted to the degree that it will no longer boot. You have to be able to boot into Windows to run safe mode.
This issue is often due to a failing drive.
So, let's check that first, because if it is failing, it would need to be replaced and there is no point then in doing anything else until we confirm that.
If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the HDD (Hard Disk Drive): http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
If not, to check the HDD you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
If the drive checks out OK, then report that and I can provide you options for reinstalling Windows on your PC.
Please note that if your model has an SSD instead of an HDD, these diagnostics might not work properly.

Thank you for your response, WAWOO.
Unfortunately, I have done all you mentioned above but still in vain. My model is HDD and I tried F2 and F11 to check all hardware components, the result was positive though some time I could see the system was trying to fix the HDD with minor error. However, it still cannot boot up or find the way to boot Safe Mode.
By the way, I tried to restore the backup, but the system could not go ahead because of the error it said in the remote HDD which use for backup so far. The system also indicated my remote HDD is locked and it cannot be turned on,
I am thinking whether my Windows 10 was crashed after automatic Windows Update since I feel that the computer performs normally behind the blink screen.
One more thing I would like to ask for your help. Is the problem that I cannot update my HP Support Assistant 9 to my another laptop HP Envy 15, convertible 360. Even it prompts me to update, but everytime the installation would not succeed under an error code -2. Whenever I install the new version, my old version, HP Support Assistant 8 would be deleted at the same time.
Please give solutions, HP expert!

You have to keep running diagnostics until the drive shows no more errors. There is nothing else you can do until then.
Also, don't start adding issues to this thread; instead, open a new thread for each additional issue.
