HP 450 G2 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Updated to latest bios.  Upon restart automatic, HP Logo and spinning circle appeared.  Then the display went blank but has backlight.  Boots into normal Windows but no active display to see the Desktop.

Used another laptop to download and prepare for rollback.  Did this.

Issue was the USB which I had put the older version, did not come up at F2.  The Management Screen.

Had to download HP Diagnostics v8.0.0.0 and then in the BIOS folder copy the Firmware.

Then placed into laptop pressed F2 wella! Got the Management Screen and proceeded to flash the BIOS.

Issue, the Management APP complained:  Could not open Signature file.

I looked and there was no Signature file.

Downloaded the BIOS that created the Blank screen. It Flashed but, still Blank Screen.

Copied over signature file from the New Bios placed with the older BIOS.  Complained:  Could not open signature file.

Flashed the NEW and Latest BIOS 2 more times. Still Blank Screen in Normal Windows.  Just a black screen.

Boots into Safe Mode I get the Display and can see the Desktop and monkey around.

Also tried the recovery method

Windows Key plus B it works good but did not flash the original BIOS.

How to install video drivers in Safe Mode?  and all the rest?

Specs:  HP bs289wm laptop

Windows 10 Home

Intel Pentium Silver N2000 Or N5000 1.10Ghz with Turbo

Intel UHD 605 Graphics.

Is there a fix for this?

Thank you kindly

Found the FIX!!

Here's what you do:

Forget all the mumbo jumbo about recovery and all this.

The problem with Black Screen after HP Logo and spinning circles is the graphics driver. Gets corrupted after flashing to new bios somehow.  Don't ask it just does.

Get into Safe Mode. Open up Device Manager disable the graphics card. Then boot normally in to windows

Go to Windows Update and tick on the Download Optional Drivers. Scroll to INTEL Graphics Driver tick on that then install. Make sure you have no other installs. DO THIS SEPARATELY.  Hardware drivers should always be installed by themselves.

If there is update pending for a reboot to install do that first make sure that all Windows updates are done  then install this driver.

This worked for me.  Nothing like older versions of Windows where everything is simpler. This new antiquate mess creates a bigger headache. Mystery!!

Back to basics.  You get a black screen after HP Logo and spinning, but the Monitor is illumed --backlight function and boots into windows drive lights flashing and all including CAPSLOCK, problem is video card.

Forget the recovery modes, the bios rollbacks, and countless hoo ha non-sense.  Just a way for them to make money.

Have a good day
