I have exactly the same issue on my work laptop. (HP ZBook Studio 15.6 inch G8)

It is the i9-11900H with the RTX 3070.

It switches off if the power get's connected and then it does not power on unless the power button is pressed for 30s.

I bought another charger and it doesn't make a difference.

I will contact HP Support now that I know this is a known defect - but I can't wait for sure 3 months to get the laptop repaired!

Enrico, they replaced both the motherboard and the battery in mine, but while the motherboard replacement temporarily fixed it, the battery did not. HP's next attempt was going to be a replacement graphics card, but then offered me a new machine which I accepted. Three months in and no issues, I just hope I'm not jinxing it by saying that!

Thanks Fatihb

Going to try the bios update also over the weekend. 01.11.00
I checked the changelog see below

Fixes an issue which causes the system to wake a second time after Wake-on-LAN (WOL) occurs while connected to an HP USB-C Dock G5 or HP USB-C/A Dock G2.
- Addresses security vulnerabilities CVE-2022-21198. - Addresses security vulnerabilities CVE-2022-26845, CVE-2022-27497, CVE-2022-29893, and CVE-2022-33159. - Addresses security vulnerabilities CVE-2022-27538, CVE-2022-27539, CVE-2022-27540, CVE-2022-27541, CVE-2022-43777, and CVE-2022-43778. - Updates the Preboot Wi-Fi driver to version 2.2.15.22272. - Updates the CPU microcode for Intel processors to enhance stability. - Improves stability when updating the camera firmware. - Updates the basic HP PC Hardware Diagnostics utility to version 2.3.0.0. - Updates the HP Sure Run Agent to version 5.0.1.11 to enhance compatibility and stability. - Enhanced the stability of USB-C connection on Windows 11 22H2 - Provides support for a new Micron 16GB memory module.

Like this I wonder if it could be a fix to the cpu microcode or the Preboot wifi driver (will try to see if we can disable the wifi in the bios also). Will confirm after the weekend if it works or not. There is bunch of firmware update as well coming with it.
As a side note they already replaced my system... I am so disappointed by customer service in Romania from HP...

Hello,
I've been having no problems for the past few days after the Bios update.
Good luck to all of us for now.

Hello,
I was disappointed today, it hasn't opened again  😡

We expect hp to see and solve our problems.

Same problem here. Updated to latest firmware and reinstalled Windows 10. No improvements. Laptop turn off when plugging in the charger and won't turn on after going to sleep mode. No events in Event Viewer to help troubleshooting.

How can this be escalated?

In my case, HP has replaced the motherboard. So far, the problem is solved.

For those still looking for a solution: contact HP Support. It is most likely a hardware problem that they have to fix. It's not going to get fixed by a software update. The more people contact HP because of this problem, the more likely HP will really fix the issue in all future laptops built.
