auto scrolling

Hi, i don't know if this is the right place for this problem but the strangest thing has been happening. My computer has been automatically scrolling through windows. This auto scrolling only occurs when the mouse pointer is on with in the region of the window. if i take the mouse of the page I can at least depend on the arrow keys to scroll through the page.
My PC is an hope pavilion g6.
Please, someone help me. I really depend on my computer to work.

Hi,

Can you post back with the following details.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of your g6 series notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

Regards,

DP-K

Hi Angela,

Try the following.

First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60001-60500/sp60197.exe

Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

You may still need to set up options such as scrolling - see the HP document Here.

Regards,

That did not stop the auto scrolling.  Any other suggestions? It happens a lot in drop down menus.

I'm having the same problem with auto scroll. However, I plugged in a USB mouse and I think the problem is with the 'up' & 'down' arrow keys. I'm off to get some spray air. I have an HP Pavillion dv7 notebook PC.

Is there a way to disable the arrow keys for Internet browser scrolling?
