Re: black screen during startup

Hi @HenrikW,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer goes to the black screen on startup and after some time boots normally to Windows.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

When was the last time the computer was working fine?

Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, I recommend you perform a clean boot on the computer and check which program is causing the issue.

Here is how it is done.

  1. From Start, search for msconfig.
  2. Select System Configuration from the search results.

    Search result - System Configuration

  3. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.

    System Configuration dialog box

  4. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.

    System Configuration - Startup tab

  5. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

    Task Manager - Startup tab

  6. Close Task Manager.
  7. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Re: black screen during startup

Hi.

Thanks for your answer. First I will answer you questions.

1. Last time the PC worked was before my attempt to upgrade from WIN 7 to Win 10.After he upgrade I went back to Win 7, but the PC kept having black screen during startup.

2. Few days ago I made a clean Windows 10 Installation, and it seemed to work, but after a couple of updates and restarts the black screen hangs for 1½ minuter during start up.

3, I have tried several troubleshooting via forums, and I have tried dianostic startup, with the result, that the PC would not start up normally afain. After consulting forums regarding this topic, I gave up and made a new installation.

I wil come back to ypu later when I have tryed ypur suggestions.

best regards Henrik
