I'm trying to change my boot mode so that I can format my hp envy m6 the problem is that the first left quarter on my screen is broken and I can't see what number (aka pass code) should I put so that I can change the boot mode i tried to plugin the laptop to a LG screen so that I can see but it only feeds the screen when the lock screen of windows pops up

You generally can NOT use an external screen to replace the built-in screen on a laptop because that screen does not get a display until the Windows drivers are loaded, and that is long after what you want to do.
Sorry, but you would have to get the screen replaced.
