You will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

I recommend that you replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing solid state drive (SSD).

You have 3 options to do that:

1.  Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD

2. Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a M.2 SATA SSD (would have the same performance as the 2.5" SATA SSD).

3. Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a M.2 NVMe SSD which has the best performance than either of the above options.

If you were using less than half of the 1 TB of drive space, you could buy a 500 GB SSD which will cost less than a 1 TB one.

After you replace the drive, use another PC running Windows 7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive with the HP cloud recovery tool.

That will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new drive.
