Hi @TheMooDSlayer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus laptop shut down during gaming and is not powering on anymore, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is plugged in properly and that the power outlet is working.
  • Try using a different power outlet or a different charger, if available, to rule out a charger issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power adapter and remove any connected peripherals (like USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and try turning the laptop on again.

Check for Indicator Lights:

  • Look for any LED indicators on the laptop. If the charging light is on or blinking, it may indicate a battery or charging issue.
  • If there’s no indicator light, it could be a motherboard or internal power issue.

Try Powering Up Without the Battery:

  • If possible, remove the battery (if it’s removable) and try powering on the laptop with just the charger plugged in.

Check for Overheating:

  • If the laptop was under heavy load (such as gaming), it might have overheated and shut down to protect itself. Let it cool down for 15-20 minutes, then try powering it on again.

Try a BIOS Recovery:

  • If the laptop turns on but the screen remains blank, it could be a BIOS issue. Try holding the Windows + B keys and then pressing the power button to initiate a BIOS recovery.

Test with an External Monitor:

  • If the laptop turns on (you hear fans or lights), but the screen is blank, try connecting an external monitor to check if the issue is with the display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

the device seems to suffer with coping with heat dissipation, even at full speed with the fans cleaned ect... the laptop has never reached the promised 5.1GHz boost clock and would probably melt if it did.
i have to run  a server sized fan i glued to a laptop stand to keep it stable.

at times it got so hot I worried it would melt or explode.

suggestion on cooling upgrades?

my testing
