My keyboard and TouchPad won't work. I've searched and tried many options but none have worked. Help!! I was away for four days and came back to it not working. I also checked for updates.  I'm hoping somehow I've locked it and its a simple fix but what I've found online hasn't worked.

Hi @kazkazkaz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried some troubleshooting steps, but let's go through a few more potential solutions to see if we can get your keyboard and touchpad working again.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix many issues, including keyboard and touchpad problems.
  • Check for physical damage: Ensure there's no physical damage to the keyboard or touchpad. Look for any debris or dirt that might be obstructing the keys or touchpad.
  • Check for hardware issues: If you have an external keyboard or mouse, try connecting them to your laptop to see if they work. This can help determine if the issue is with the built-in keyboard and touchpad or if it's a broader hardware issue.
  • Update drivers: Go to the Device Manager in Windows and check if there are any exclamation marks next to the keyboard and touchpad drivers. If so, try updating the drivers.
  • Rollback drivers: If you recently updated your drivers and the issue started occurring after that, try rolling back the drivers to the previous version.
  • Check keyboard and touchpad settings: Make sure the keyboard and touchpad settings are correct in the Windows settings. You can find these settings by going to Settings > Devices > Touchpad/Typing.
  • Check for BIOS updates: Sometimes BIOS updates can fix hardware-related issues. Check the HP website for any BIOS updates available for your laptop model and install them if necessary.
  • Perform a system restore: If the issue started occurring after a recent software installation or update, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state where the keyboard and touchpad were working fine.
  • Check for malware: Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware that might be causing the issue.

Hopefully, one of these solutions will help resolve the issue with your keyboard and touchpad.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
