CQ60-615DX notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

my laptop lost the bios after doing a harddrive check that locked up.

i have found several sites talking about recovering the bios

http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=NoPowerorBootIssues.net&as=true&SFS=sdoc&section=ccweb&langu...

the instuctions on this page while good doesnt help either since the bois updates are eitherfor  windows or the hp bios update utility is not an option after downloading either bios listed for the cq60

please there must be a good way to fix this.

thank you

Greetings @oddballTX

Thanks for the post.

I understand that your computer is no longer booting to the desktop is that right?

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you run a diagnostics on your computer?

Please disconnect any devices connected to your computer.

If you have any USB or DVD in the computer, please disconnect it.

Perform a power reset on the computer. Click here for assistance.

Disconnect the adapter, remove the battery (if it can be removed)

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain the static in the computer.

Connect the adapter and battery to the computer.

Turn the computer ON while holding the Win + B key. (hold these 2 keys for more than 10 seconds, let go of the power button alone)

Refer to this HP Article to know more about BIOS recovery.

If your computer still does not boot to the desktop, please try a BIOS update by creating a BIOS update kit on a USB drive. Click here

If your computer still does not boot to the desktop, please let me know if you see any lights blinking on your computer. Click here

If possible, run a system test on your computer. Click here

Keep me posted.
