Did you choose to use a Local account with username & password or a Microsoft Connected account with emal and password? Either way -it may be better to just reset the machine to clear password and start fresh since you could actually have hit one wrong key when setting up the password.

You can get to the same options by shutting down completely-then power on>

  1. Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key about once every second until the Choose and option screen is displayed, and then continue.
  2. On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot.
  3. On the Troubleshoot screen
  4. Two options -click Reset this PC or click Recovery Manager and do a fresh install. Not 100% sure the Reset removes password-but HP document says it does and it should work faster.
