Pavilion G7-2293
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Laptop takes 2 minutes to power up screen. The power light and LAN link lights as well as wifi light turn on as soon as power button is pushed but the screen is dark, unlit (not even a blank screen) for 2 minutes. finally comes up to F2 diagnostic screen. memory test OK, HD test OK...this is all done without even an OS installed. It takes 2 minutes to even boot to BIOS.

Solved--- Remove the battery and the darn thing boots right into BIOS! It seems the laptop was doing some sort of battery test/charge test and that took 2 minutes to complete without even lighting the backlight of the screen. Once the battery was removed (it's 7 years old) it powers up immediately into BIOS or whatever OS you have installed.
