power light stays on during sleep and wont restart laptop
05-24-2021 04:11 PM

when i close the lid or enter sleep from the windows key option the laptop seems to sleep but i cant start it up without holding the power button for a few seconds.
The power button stays lit also during this.
It has just started to happen and sometimes does actually sleep as it should but mostly as described earlier.

Hi@Robb111, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I see that your computer is not Shutting down.
Perform a hard reset on the computer.
-
If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
-
With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
-
With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
-
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
I would suggest here is to update the Bios and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link:- Click here
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Once done, restart the computer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
