Hi,

I turned on my laptop, but it failed to complete the startup.

I ran short hard disk diagnostics and I got this error :

SMART CHECK  :PASSED

SHORT DST      : FAILED

FAILURE ID    : MCQF9H-77G838-MFPWXF-60SX03

PRODUCT ID  : E5D85UA#ABA

.....

what I have to do ??

please  help  !!!

Hi,

 

You're welcome :generic:

 

There's nothing you can really do to repair the HDD - the drive will need to be replaced.

 

However, you may well be able to access and save your existing data by removing the HDD, placing it in an external caddy - an example is on the link below - and connecting this to another PC and see if you can access your files.

 

External HDD Caddy 2.5".

Hi,

 

The 24 character error code does confirm a failure of the short Disk Self Test ( DST ) and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the boot issue you describe.

 

If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here.

 

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

 

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

 

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.

and that what i thought....
but is there anything else i can do to repair my Hard Driver ?
like windows installtion media, Notron tools or Ashampo programes .... etc
i will do anything because i have a lot of important data on it, and i won't lost it
