HP Laptop -14-dk1025wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For about a month now I've been experiencing slow preformance and 100% disk usage. I followed the steps on the internet (eg. hard drive checks, disabling super fetch and windows search) but to no avail. A couple days ago I got my computer to feel it very overheated and got the error:

please run the hard disk check in system diagnostics

hard disk 1 (3f1)

f2- system diagnostics

I wasn't really sure what to do here, but when I checked disk again in file explorer it said it was fine.

Since then there's been overheating in the bottom right corner or my pc and slower preformance the longer I use it. My PC is very new, I got it in June. That being said my warranty is still active.

How should I proceed from here?

Has this disk usage and overheating been every day? Or has it been just a couple of days a week -- the same days every week?

Asking because Windows Update runs every week and when it does, it drives the disk usage to 100% and the processor also to 100% -- which can cause the laptop to overheat.

It's been every day. I'm currently preforming a long drive self-check, so if that fails I'll send it in for repair.

Windows Updates only hits once a week -- so if you're getting these issues every day even after doing updates, then something else is at work.

Your are correct in that, if the extensive test fails, you need to send in your PC for diagnostics and repair under the warranty.

Good Luck
