Dear All,
I have the 17-an018na HP Omen Laptop, current specs are as default, i1770, 16gb RAM, 256 ssd, 1tb hhd, GTX 1060.
My question is I want to upgrade the hhd hard drive because I have run out of space on the 256gb because of games. I do have some files on the hhd, can I swap the hhd for a 1tb ssd and just copy and paste the files onto the new drive by putting them on my 256ssd first and then onto the new 1tb ssd? Is it a simple swap? A 1tb hdd for a 1tb ssd?
Also, to upgrade the RAM to 32gb, can I get 2 X 16gb ddr4 2666mhz?
Kind regards,
Matt

The Samsung EVO 860 SATA 6 GB/s SSD you ask about does meet the required specs and that makes it compatible.

Sure. You have plenty of upgrade options. See the offerings at Crucial memory specifically for your notebook.

2 x 16GB DDR4-3200 would be even better.
Cloning from one disk to another is the way to go. Purchase your SSD as an upgrade kit and you may get and adapter and Acorn cloning software with it.

Thank you for your reply.
I have been learning about this all day thanks to your link earlier, I now trust Crucial, people have lots of good reviews about them and I also found the 16GB x 2 DDR4 3200 RAM, I am going to buy those so that I have 32GB RAM. Thank you for that.
I am now trying to know which ssd drive to buy. Is this Samsung one compatible? https://www.ebuyer.com/824750-samsung-860-evo-1tb-ssd-mz-76e1t0b-eu?fbclid=IwAR0IbI9rMxnwoeC6pexBJPA...
I understand now that I can just take my 1tb hhd drive out and any ssd will fit in the space because they are slightly smaller. The new ssd is just to have games on there so I need it to be fast, then all the upgrades on this laptop will be done.
