17-ca1022cy Max memory and M.2 SSD support?
01-16-2021 12:38 PM - edited 01-17-2021 07:10 AM

Hi, I was wondering what is the maximum memory supported for the 17-ca1022cy laptop is? I hear 2 different numbers. 16 GB and 32 GB. And can I use Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400MHz memory?
And also on the M.2 2280-d2-b-m ssd. I want to install a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD but I wonder if I could install a new WD Black 1 TB SN850 SSD or a WD Black 1TB SN750 SSD? The pin is a b-m in the service manual but when I do a computer search for the drive for that model number it shows up that I can use a M key socket edge connector.
Any advice on the above questions? Thank you!

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06598816
Manual
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05985614.pdf
As mentioned on page 3, it support M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD for dual storage using Crucial P2, Samsung 970 or similar.
WD Black 1TB SN750 SSD should also work
For RAM: it supports 32GB max . You can use
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd824a/ct18380698
or (will run at 2400MHz): https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g26c16s4b/ct18380679

Thank you Banfield, So if I got a WD Black 1TB SN750 SSD and a 1TB SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD or a WD Blue SATA SSD. Either of these will work right? And as far as the memory goes what is better 2400MHz or 2600MHz? The Corsair Vengeance should also work or no? I want yo max out the 32GB on the MB.

I just found out that I think that this laptop can use 3200MHz of memory according to Crucial memory finder. Is that possible, it came with 12 GB 2400MHz.
