HP ENVY x360 - 15-aq106ng

Dear Community,

I am a little bit confused and angry.

Could it be that HPs Assistant App "causes/further" battery issues?

May be, its coincidence, but may be also planned obsolescence.

3 weeks ago, HP Support Assistant App advised to calibrate the battery.

So, I calibrated the battery.

Today, new HP Assistant App Version installed itself and now the App advises to replace the whole battery quick.

The accu does still have 77% of its origin capacity, and now I should replace the battery, because it won't be charged over 90%. That is ridiculous. Battery's age: little bit > 5 yrs

It is not ridiculous. Unfortunately, your expectations are not realistic. Read the article provided by Microsoft at the link below.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/caring-for-your-battery-in-windows-2db3e37f-5e7d-488e-90...

Sometime within this year you will very likely start experiencing shorter times of battery only use and unexplained and unexpected shutdowns..

Understand that what the calibration actually does is make the 100% reflective of the actual charge the battery is now capable of. It will not have the storage capability it had when it came from the factory.

I suggest running the Windows Battery-Report to get a better snapshot of your battery"s current capacity.

I recommend replacing the battery with a new one, before you notice the effects of having a battery that has been used for five years+. The effects you experience with the battery will not be positive.

A lithium ion laptop batter is warrantied by the manufacturer for one year, but most laptop owners get three to four years of use from them.

You laptop battery has provided excellent product service life above and beyond the norm.
