Spectre X360 15-df0126ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Title kind of gives it away already...

Just recently I bought a Spectre X360 15-df0126ng and I love the device so far (Apart from the fans that are running quite often, but it's an ultrabook with quite a lot of power, so I guess you have to live with that...)

One thing I noticed though, and I don't yet understand is, when I put the laptop in tablet mode and then put it at an ~45° angle i can hear something clicking on the left side near the fan opening.
Actually, it has nothing to do with the tablet mode.

The clicking is happening when the lower part of the laptop is at about a 45° angle with the keyboard facing down and the hinges on the lower side.

The clicking seems loudest on the bottom side near the left fan vent (The one with the HDMI next to it) 2-3 cm inside of the edge.

It does not sound like the fan is hitting something. To me the closest thing to describe it would be a small relay that is triggering every now and then.

I seriously don't know what that could be, it's no big deal as the laptop still works fine. Still, it is kind of annoying if you try to work.
I hope you guys can help me!

Kind regards

Stephan

@Rettichkuchen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98001-98500/sp98319.exe

Nvidia: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96501-97000/sp96853.exe

Intel: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97051.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Updating the BIOS actually helped for one of the two problems!
The fan's are now working properly and remain off most of the time and actually rarely spin up at all anymore. So that is great!

The clicking noise is still there though... And I still don't know what could cause it...

(I was not able to install the other drivers however. Only the one for the BIOS would work. On the other ones I simply get the message that this driver is not compatible with the current OS version.)

Kind Regards

Stephan
