Hello there. I tried to install second disc (SSD) in the hard bay instead of a DVD drive on my friend's laptop. But that second HDD/SSD does not appear in BIOS. Only one disc has been found at the time. Does this model of laptop supports a second HDD? I have not encountered this problem yet. Even with older laptops. Thank you. Tomas

PS: Original HDD 1000GB and SSD 500GB WD Blue.

More often than not, when you replace the optical drive in a laptop with an HDD or SDD, because the optical drive was configured in the BIOS to be Device 0 (zero), the new device is seen as the same -- and the PC then tries, automatically, to boot from the new device.

In these cases, the BIOS, if it only saw one drive, would see the new one, not the old one.

Did you check that?

@Banhien @WAWood   Thank you for your responses.

This is the mentioned specification, yes.  https://support.hp.com/lt-en/document/c04833724

I tried to put a new SSD in the caddy that replaced the DVD, as well as the in original HDD position. In both cases the BIOS recognized only the drive in its original position and the drive in the caddy seems not to be. It didn't matter what drive it was.

I tried to do everything with BIOS. Firmware upgrade, reset settings. I don't know when there might be a problem in the "Insydeh20" version. Everything seems to be set correctly and it has minimal settings. There are 2 options : defective caddy or BIOS that does not support replacing the optical drive to the hard drive. Any communication with pc shop is unfortunately more complicated at this covid time. Its closed for personal contact.

Regards. Tomas
