Pavillion DV7-4069WM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’m wanting to upgrade my wireless card to one that supports 5G, I haven’t had much luck finding one.
A good friend of mine has the exact same laptop with the exception of the letters after the 4069,  hers supports 5G but mine doesn’t.
anyone know of one that will work besides a usb one?

thanks in advance

Hi:

Your notebook's model series has a BIOS whitelist which prevents any wifi card that didn't come with your PC from working.

If your friend has the same dv7-4000 model series and it has a dual band wifi card, then you can experiment with the dual band card part number your friend's notebook probably comes with...

This is from the list of wifi cards shown in chapter 3 of the dv7-4000 service manual...

Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module for use in Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Guinea, Haiti, Jamaica, Guam, Nether Antilles, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Gren., Suriname,
and the United States   HP part # 582564-001

Looks like there are plenty of them for sale on eBay.

Find one that shows an actual picture of the wifi card and has the part number showing on the white 'Replace with HP Spare' label.

Again...this may not work since it was not the original wifi card in your specific model notebook, but it is cheap enough to take a gamble on it.
