Just like the guy in the other post for 7840HS said, my cpu never reaches advertised speeds of 5.2Ghz, it only boosts up to 4.4ghz while gaming while temps staying pretty low which is good. However, i found out that when i go to Omen Gaming HUB or BIOS, and disable iGPU, my cpu easily reaches 5.1-5.2Ghz for some reason, but the problem is that then temps get pretty toasty because it stays at 5.2Ghz almost all the time and drivers got somehow fckd up and VSYNC cant be controled anymore and some of the games says that they dont detect any gpu.. For example, DIRT 2 stays at 60 laggy fps whatever i do, even if i force max refresh rate in nvdida control panel, Heli Heroes and MDK2 (older games) doesnt even detect gpu anymore and so on.. I also noticed that when i disable iGPU screen became noticeably brighter for some reason after computer restarts and also variable refresh rate magically dissapears from screen settings... I think this is all software issue and wish you at least try to fix it because this is relatively new laptop and its pity that has so many bugs.. There are so many posts on internet about these clock speed problems and still you did literally nothing to fix it.. Shame

Hi @VladaBGD,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration with the issues you're experiencing with your OMEN By HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop. It sounds like you've done some troubleshooting already, such as disabling the iGPU to see if it affects CPU speeds. However, it seems like this has caused more problems than it solved, with issues like high temperatures, VSYNC problems, and games not detecting the GPU.
Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot these issues:
1. Enable iGPU Again
- Since disabling the iGPU caused issues with GPU detection and VSYNC, try re-enabling the iGPU in BIOS or the Omen Gaming Hub to see if it resolves those issues. It might help with the games not detecting the GPU and VSYNC control.
2. Update GPU Drivers
- Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. Visit NVIDIA's website and download the latest drivers for your specific GPU model. Outdated drivers can cause various issues with gaming performance and detection.
3. BIOS Update
- Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop. Sometimes BIOS updates can improve system stability and performance.
4. Check Power Settings
- Ensure that your laptop's power settings are set to "High Performance" while gaming. Sometimes, power-saving modes can limit CPU and GPU performance.
5. Monitor CPU and GPU Usage
- Use tools like Task Manager or MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU and GPU usage while gaming. This can help identify if there are any unusual spikes or bottlenecks causing the issues.
6. Reset Default Settings
- If you've made a lot of changes, consider resetting the BIOS settings to default and then reconfigure any necessary settings.
Regarding Clock Speeds
- It's common for CPUs to not always reach their advertised boost speeds, especially in laptops where thermal constraints and power limits are factors. Seeing 4.4GHz during gaming is still quite good.
- When you disable the iGPU, the CPU might boost higher, but as you've noticed, it comes with trade-offs like higher temperatures and potential driver issues.
Final Notes
- It's unfortunate that you're experiencing these issues, but many of them can potentially be resolved through software updates and configurations.
- Always ensure that when making changes in BIOS or system settings, you are aware of the potential impacts on other components and functionalities.
These steps should help you get started on troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Don't want to be rude, but your way of thinking is not rational pal.. Don't you think i tried all of that before making so much effort making this post? Ive done everything, step by step, method of elimination to find out what could possibly be the problem, even reinstalled windows and only thing that is logical to me is that you made bad driver/kernel/firmware or whatever you call it that badly controls the hardware, in this case the CPU. Btw i don't even know how somebody can have outdated drivers today when you have that HP Support Assistant app and even without it Windows 11 does it automatically for you anyway.. This answer looks more like its a bot/AI made than real human, for real, how can you say that its a thermal/power limited and then when i disable integrated graphics it magically isn't limited any more? Makes no sense at all..
Btw, so many people on internet have the same problem, don't you think its maybe a time to at least investigate why is it happening? You lied to the other guy that asked you the same question that "The issue is being worked on, a firmware fix will be released in a few weeks" because i bought a newer laptop that came with the same bug or "feature" that he had.. So much about that..
Its not that it performs bad, everything works really good still, but its just that its not working like it should (not utilizing full power of the hardware in certain conditions i mentioned) and people who bought these things bought it for raw performance. This is not an office machine and i want every bit of performance i can get.

I just realized i somehow made 2 hp accounts on the same mail... Wouldn't even realized if i haven't changed picture on one profile so i saw that other one still have default one.. omg
Anyway if anybody find a solution for this laptop performance related issue pls write it down.

I'm the same guy just to be clear, HP deleted all my files associated with my mail instead of just that one profile i asked, anyway there was an update for BIOS few days ago, they really have read what i wrote here and changed things, now it actually boosts while gaming BUT as i was scared of now the temps are extremely high so im a little worried for a laptop in a long term. For example, earlier was 4400Mhz fixed in all games and now oscillates between 4.8-5.2 but temperatures get toasty really quickly. You get 80c + in GTA V just in few minutes of playing and the gain in fps is barely noticeable. I thought the impact in FPS would be greater when i wrote the post before. I tested with and without boost ( enabled and disabled it in power options) and between 4Ghz and 5Ghz difference is maybe 10 fsp max but difference in temperatures are like 20c and more which in my opinion is not worth it after all. Before when it was stuck at 4.4Ghz with BIOS v15 temps when gaming were like 50-70c but mostly about 60 and now are 70-90c so maybe this is a little stupid and embarrassing but can you revert it back like it was in version 15, im worried that it will die faster like this. Before at least the apps that needed boost had it and now if i disable it in power options to get temps lower it is completely gone for every app/process. Please if you can just revert it in the next update or make thermal throttle more aggressive at least, my laptop became toaster 😢
