AC or Battery

The battery in my HP Pavilion Laptop is not easily removable.  The Laptop rarely leaves the office and I usually leave it plugged in.  Is this harmful to the battery?  Should I only plug it in until the battery is charged then run from the battery?

Hi:

You can leave the power adapter plugged in most of the time.

What I do every month or so, is to unplug the adapter from the notebook, run it off the battery until the low battery notice comes on, then I plug in the adapter.

Once in a while it is a good idea to 'exercise' the battery.

You are fine.

Leave the computer plugged in - The battery will not overcharge.

Leaving the computer on AC power reduces the number of times the battery must recharge. 

There is evidence (depending on whom you believe AND the individual battery) that fewer charge cycles = longer battery life.
