HP Notebook - 14-dk000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just bought a HP Notebook - 14-dk0043nf with a AMD Ryzen™ 3 3200U CPU and a AMD Radeon™ Vega 3 Graphics. I noticed that the actual RAM was only 6GB instead of the 8GB (as can be seen in the Windows 10 performances monitor). Note that the memory usage for the GPU is almost dead 0.

After some time on the web, I found that thread that looks very similar: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/How-to-disable-or-reduce-integr...

Since it was on a slightly different chipset, my question is: has this bug been fixed or not?

At first sight, it does not seem so but maybe there is an upgrade somewhere well hidden.

This is extremely disappointing to see that HP is still telling customers such false advertising.

Hi:

From what I have read, it is not a bug.

HP released this document a while back, which explains the memory shortage...

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06526774

This seems to only apply to models with AMD Ryzen processors and chipsets.

Info on Microsoft PlayReady.

You can try updating the BIOS to the latest version if you have not done so already.

Someone reported it got them almost 1 GB back.

PS:  You'll have to wait until HP fixes their website.

Almost all links to support documents are not working.

Hi,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Still frustrating that the user doesn't get what he paid for.

I've not managed to upgrade the bios yet but will report back.

You're very welcome.

I agree with you 100%.

I've never heard of such a thing.

Well, bios upgraded to the latest one (F54) but no luck, still 6GB available only.

Thanks anyway.

Can't wait to receive the satisfaction survey...

Note: I accepted the post as "solution" for the sake of the effort to provide an EXPLANATION. But sadly, no solution at all.
