I'm thinking of buying the Omen 17-W151NR from Costco and its a prebuilt model. It only has 512gb SSD and I have an extra M.2 SSD. Is it possible for me to install it in the Omen if I buy it? 512gb is just not enought space.

Manual: page 41
M.2 2280 SATA SSD, PCIe NVMe TLC 512gb is what the laptop comes with from factory. You can extra add 2.5 inch SATA SSD 7mm in HDD bay.

There's no SSD cable or mounting brackets to put the drive into the empty slot, does anyone know what type would work and where to get it? I seen some on Amazon by NewMode but is for the HP Envy and Pavillion models.
I gotta say it's really disappointing to open up your laptop and seeing that there is no proprietary cable where one should be and there is no mention of this in the manuals; or having to get a mounting brackets if you want to add a 2nd HDD. Was finally able to solve this! After some research and talking to HP Support I found out that you can get the SSD mounting kit and cable for this unit, labelled as Screw Kit: 862957-001 in the manual. The HP Parts Store did not have this in stock nor could they give any timeframe whatsoever for restocking but did forward me to some authorized HP parts dealers. Luckily I was able to find a place that had the parts and was able to install the 2.5" SSD in the empty bay.
Note that when installing the cable the pins on the cable need to face down so they face the motherboard with the blue tab facing up towards you. There is a little black line on the top as well I'm guessing to indicate how far the cable should slide in and that line should line up with the ZIF socket once the hinge is closed down. I didn't have any instructions with my kit as it was pieced together manually by the tech team so there was some trial and error. After Windows 10 booted back up it showed up immediately in Disk Manager.
Consult the manual for instructions on how to remove the outer shell from the laptop and where to install the drive (page 54) - http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05350442 - Don't forget to ground yourself and disconnect the battery before working on any electrical components!
Hope this helps someone, I looked everywhere for answers for this model but came up with nothing. For those interested the drive I installed was a Samsung 850 EVO (250GB).
