I wanted to extend my storage as there was only 256gb m.2 nvme ssd was installed. So I thought of upgrading my storage with 2.5" hdd. There was no connector provided so bought one. I asked the shopkeeper if it'll work and he said yes there are 12 pins so it'll surely work (photos attached). But when I connect the hdd using the connector, the laptop refuses to boot, when I remove it, it turns on. Can someone please guide me through this difficulty.

Your user manual (page 40) indicates part # for a hard drive cable is L18218-001.
This cable is from eBay. See the screenshot below. It actually has only 11 pins with one pin not being present. A cable from another vendor on eBay shows 11 pins too. A cable in your screenshot shows full 12 pins. Perhaps, this could be the reason why your notebook didn't start.
