Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to add 250 gb SSD and 8gb ram to My pavilionx360 ba-151tx over and existing configuration. Is it possible to do both and will it void my warranty?

Manual says these work is for HP Authorized Service Provider parts only, this implies you need to contact HP in your country to do that.

But as I always say: Warranty is a grey/gray area, if you wish, you can do yourself. If no problem then no problem; if something went wrong due to those upgrades then you may be getting problem when claim warranty.

Hope this makes sense.

Regards.

Hi,

Max RAM in your notebook is 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz (2x16GB) even if service manual metions12GB.

There are two slots and at the moment you have one 4GB module and one empty slot. You can add an 8GB module in the empty slot for a total of 12GB. The RAM will run at 2133MHz.

Example of RAM:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-x360-14-ba151tx#MEMORYFilte...

On page 58 of the service manual, you can see how to install the RAM, which is not easy in this model as you need to remove the motherboard and flip it to get to the RAM slots.

There is an M2 slot with support for M2 SATA3 SSD such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo or similar. You can purchase of your desired capacity (no limit). You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD for great performance gain. The SSD is also not so easy to install as you need to remove the motherboard to install. On page 44 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the SSD

A: M2 SSD R: RAM (under cover)A: M2 SSD R: RAM (under cover)

Hope it helps,

David

Edit: RAM and Drive upgrades is an accepted practice and will only void warranty if you break something during upgrade.

I have a licensed version of Windows and if I transfer it to ssd will I have to install a new unlicensed version or the same old Windows will be copied on ssd?

HP Recommended

Yes. The product key is in the firmware so you can reinstall the OS and it will automatically activate once installed and connected to internet. Before installing the M2 drive you can download the media creation tool from Microsoft and run to create a bootable USB drive with the OS on it.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can use this drive to perform a clean install of the latest version of Windows 10. After installation let it completlyupdate.

Then you can install HP support assistant for drivers and more

Hope it helps,
