Alt keys not working

HP Pavilion 15-n211sf
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I recently changed my hard drive and reinstalled Windows, and after that I noticed that both Alt keys weren't functionning.

I tried on Ubuntu on a live USB, and they did not work.

I ran the HP UEFI diagnosis and both Alt keys weren't detected.

I bought a new keyboard, plugged it in, and it didn't work either.

When I plug an external keyboard, both Alt keys work.

Can someone help me?

Alt keys not working

Hi Nicolas,

Only suggestion I've is the issue may be either in the keyboard controller on board or motherboard itself.

If you're within warranty you can get it checked by certified HP technician and get it repaired or by a good local technician.

BTW have you updated BIOS to latest available in your support page:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6529948/...

Read this before BIOS update: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-n200-Notebook-PC-series/6529948/model/6753724/doc...

Alt keys not working

Hi Visruth,

Thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately, my warranty is over.

I did update the BIOS, and it didn't change anything.

I will check with a local technician, but I'm afraid the cost will be too high. I think I'm better off with a USB keyboard.

Regards,

Nicolas
