HP Spectre x360 13-4005dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP Spectre x360 13-4005dx motherboard burned out at less than 3 years old and I am out of warranty. I was using it one night and it suddenly shut off with no warning and now it is completely unresponsive. When I called HP, they gave me a quote of >$700 to repair it. A $1,200 laptop should last more than 3 years. There are many other threads and countless customers complaining about this same issue and HP has yet to acknowledge it as a problem on their end. In the other threads about this issue, some customers reported that HP eventually agreed to fix their laptops for free. I'm willing to contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission as others have, but I'd rather HP own up and fix my laptop. I can't afford to pay for repairs out of pocket so if anyone knows what I can do, I'm all ears.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
