Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

When I turn on my laptop, windows doesn´t start. I have a blue screen with an error message : BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO.

I have tried to repair/restore the system but it doesn´t work.

I also did a System Extensive Test, and I have failed 2 tests:

- Hard Drive Short DST Check : Failed  / FAILURE ID : GSP2XS-91VA1J-XD7W21-60XM03

- Hard Drive Long DST Check : Failed / FAILURE ID : GSP2XS-91VA1J-XD7W21-61FD03

(the Hard Drive Smart Check and the Hard Drive Optimized DST check have been Passed).

My laptop is out of warranty since April 2019.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? What do I have to do?

Thank you for your help!

Nicolas

Hi, Nicolas:

You will have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system when you get those test failures.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall Windows 10, the drivers and programs that originally came with your notebook by creating a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Hello Paul,

Thank you very much for your reply!

I have checked on the service manual, the indicated hard drive I would like to order is out of Stock (1-TB, 5400-rpm  / Spare part number : 778192-005 ).

Do you think this one is compatible? Would you recommend it?

Or do you have another hard drive to recommend for my laptop (15z-Bw000)?

Thank you for your help!

You're very welcome, Nicolas.

The model drive you posted is a 3.5" desktop PC hard drive and won't fit in your notebook.

Here is what I recommend if you can live with 500 GB of space...A better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-ultra-500gb-internal-sata-solid-state-drive/5969505.p?skuId=596...

You can get the same model on Amazon for $5 less.

If you need the 1 TB of space and you don't want to pay over $100 for a SSD, then this would be a suitable replacement for your notebook...
