BATTERY TEST FAILURE

HP Recommended
HP NOTEBOOK 15-r101na (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My PC is working fine whilst plugged in but if the power is disconnected, it instantly dies. The battery icon says "0% available (plugged in, but not charging)

I have followed all the troubleshooting I could find online, the most recent being HP PC Hardware Diagnostics, which came back for battery test as FAILED but had no fail code.

 

Is there anything I can do to save it or is my best option to buy a new battery?

 

any help appreciated!

Failed test, no charge, doesn't work, all troubleshooting completed = Replace the battery.

 

The actual code does not normally tell you anything different - Dead is dead.
