Batterie issue

I have had issues with my batterie since I've had this computer. All is fine when it is plugged in, and the icon states that the battery is 100 % charged.
The minute, I unplug the pc, it shuts down.
I have purchased a replacement batterie, thinking that the original was no good anymore, but the new one does the same thing too.
Is this a defect because I don't want to keep buying new batteries if there is an issue.

Yes. But, since your computer is running Windows 8, your laptop could be a few years old.
I wonder if the original "warranty" has expired.
Did you purchase an "extended" warranty? Has it expired?
If not, exercise the warranty to get it fixed.
