I recently changed my laptop´s battery, I couldnt find an orginal one so I replaced it with a generic one. I have installed the battery and it works well but I haven´t been able to calibrate it, I have tried several times, and the message still appears. When accessing F2 (Hardware diagnostics tool) and seeing the state of battery, it says the battery is working and well and just needs to calibrate, the serial number of the battery is displaying correctly, the only thing that wont show correctly is the state of charge as it shows as "state of charge: not available". I don´t know what to do, thanks. PD: The battery is working fine.

I get the same thing most of the time I replace an original genuine HP battery with a "generic". Works OK, Windows battery meter works, but the advanced HP diagnostic tools do not. My conclusion (guess actually) is that something about the smart chip inside the battery is not fully compatible with the battery testing hardware in the motherboard. The laptop I am using right now (Zbook 15 G3) has the second generic battery I have installed. As said above, it works fine, holds a good charge, but cannot be calibrated no matter what I do. But it has caused no problems.
