Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)
Had the laptop just a year ago last week and the battery is not charging. Ran battery test, which failed with Failure ID: MC2BSM-7P98L8-MFPWLK-C08703.

Very disappointed because the laptop has not been used that much.

Can someone tell me what has happened? And why?

Thanks,

Simon

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂

I understand that you have an HP laptop and the battery was not charging and you happen to run the battery test and it failed with a failure ID. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

I suggest you to refer to this HP Document to understand how the battery works in the laptop.

Secondly, I suggest you to reach out to our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for the battery.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

Thanks MKazi. Can you please tell me what the failure code refers to?

You're welcome. 🙂

I tried to decode the failure ID using an internal HP tool and all it told me was that it is purely a battery failure. I could not get any other details.

Cheers!
