Battery isn't Charging above 79%
02-23-2021 05:32 AM

My omen 15-ce0xx laptop isn't charging above 79%. And the battery at 79% charge hardly works for an hour. I have run the battery test on the hp support assistant and it says the battery is OK. But actually, it is not. What I think is, its one cell is damaged. What are you guys suggesting to me? Should I go for a repair or replace the battery?
THANKS

If you have not done so, run a battery report.
Might not tell you anything new; the information is good to have and you can check your theory.
Personally, I'd replace the battery - I did wait for Zbook battery to get so it would no longer charge higher than 75%. Battery was almost five years old - it was past time to replace it. I did discover that the battery was slightly bloated. Good timing. Purchased a compatible battery.
Whether you "go for repair" depends on whether the computer is in Warranty.
Regardless, it is generally faster to purchase the battery and replace it.
Personal choice.

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery
- Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated. For example, notebook case is warped, touchpad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.
- If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced. There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
