@Tracer3112, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop PC 15s-du3000 is only working when plugged in and the battery is not charging, here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Perform a Battery Reset

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Plug the adapter back in and power on the laptop.

Check Battery Status in BIOS

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Test.
  • Run the test and note the results. If it says “Replace,” the battery may be faulty.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated BIOS or power drivers can cause charging issues.

  • Go to Official HP® Support
  • Enter your product: HP Laptop PC 15s-du3000
  • Download and install the latest BIOS, Chipset, and Battery Management drivers.

Use HP Support Assistant

Check Windows Battery Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery
  • Ensure battery saver is off and check if Windows detects the battery.
  • In Device Manager, expand Batteries and right-click both:
    • Microsoft AC Adapter
    • Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
    • Choose Uninstall device, then restart the laptop. Windows will reinstall them.

Physical Battery Check

If the battery is removable:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery and inspect for swelling or damage.
  • Reinsert and try charging again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
