Hi @mtreece84,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Battery Installation:
- Ensure the battery is properly seated in its compartment. Some laptops have removable batteries that might not be properly installed.
Battery Charging Indicator:
- Check if the battery charging LED indicator is functioning. It usually lights up when the charger is connected and the battery is charging.
Restart the Laptop:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
Battery Calibration:
- Use HP Support Assistant or BIOS to perform a battery calibration which can help reset how the system measures and utilizes battery capacity.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure that all device drivers and BIOS are up to date. Use the HP Support Assistant for downloading updates specific to your model.
Battery Health Check:
- Run a battery diagnostics test using HP’s built-in diagnostic tools such as HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows from the HP website.
Check AC Adapter:
- Verify that the power adapter is functioning correctly. Try using a different compatible adapter if possible.
Inspect the Power Port:
- Look for any debris or damage in the laptop’s charging port that might prevent proper power transfer.
I hope this helps.
