Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that info.

Is the graphics driver installed?

A missing graphics driver is the only reason I can think of as to why the brightness slider is missing.

To check if the graphics driver is installed, go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

If the graphics driver is installed, you should see a specific model graphics adapter listed there (Intel, Nvidia, both).

If the graphics driver is not installed, there will be a device labeled as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
