Broken Hinge on Envy x360 Convertible Laptop

Envy x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The left hinge of my HP Envy x360 laptop broke, and shortly after it it did the touch screen shattered.

Searching the forum it appears to me that this is a design flaw in the hinge for the Envy x360 series.  I've found several posts with the exact same problem.

However a few of the above posts imply that HP may be doing something about remediation for those affected by this apparent design flaw.

I believe my laptop is out of warranty which probably means I have no recourse other than to pay out of pocket for the repair.  However the parts aren't even listed as available on the HP Parts store.  I'm leery of purchasing OEM parts from a 3rd party vendor.

Up until this hinge broke I was very happy with the laptop. I even recommended it as a purchase to several people. I've since gone back and rescinded that recommendation because of this design flaw.  Unfortunately one of the people I referred did buy the same model.  I've notified them of this problem.
