HP Notebook - 17-ca0008nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So this laptop is 1yr  and 4Months old.. and a few months after end of warranty, it's starting to fall apart.

It looks like the hinge broke inside. In turn this lets the hinge block as a whole rotate when opening the lid instead of the hinge doing its work. Result is that said block is breaking open the main body at each lid operation.

There's various bit of plastic (screw holes, securing clips) that are exiting thru the laptop openings (usb ports, optical bay).

Not sure if fully a consequence of the hinge problem, or if overall the plastic used for this laptop ages VERY badly and breaks (and this would include parts of the hinge block, as metal seems scarce overall in this model).

And of course, this laptop has led a sedentary life, no fall, brutal opening etc.

I've owner dozens of laptop in my life (i'm an IT worker), i have NEVER seen such a poor build quality and robustness.

Is there any acknowledged issue with that model ? Any repair option ?

Thanks,

FPU

Just to update the community on the outcome :

Support offered a repair bill amounting to half the initial purchase price of the laptop, so a joke entirely, for a piece of equipement that self-destroyed a mere couple of months after end of warranty period.

HP, thank you for nothing, this was the last laptop I buy from you. And being the "IT guy" i'm usually the advisor for hardware purchases for family, friends and work so you've lost far more than a single customer.
