Hello, can someone please suggest to me if I can use the caddy space to install SSD and use it instead of the default optical drive to improve performance on the HP 15 AC-101TU Notebook?

Hi:

 

You would want to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, and put the 2.5" mechanical hard drive in an optical drive caddy if you want to use it for storage.

 

You will not get the fastest performance out of the optical drive connection. 

 

It is probably only SATA 2 and the 2.5" drive is connected to a SATA 3 controller.
