HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U8D9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop becomes very slow when I have mutliple 5-8 MIS Edge browser tabs open, and task manager shows memory usage as high and/or disk access as high, I am guessing its because of paging. The specs say 16GB memory capacity but a little search said, this system can go upto 32 or even 64 GB. Has anyone done this? Is that supported?

@vmasik,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

A good question.

As to actual HP System Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2xxx Users (over 1,000 to be exact), none of them -at least that I could see, installed more than 2x8GB of RAM: UserBenchmark: HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2xxx Compatible Components.

But wait.

Some sources suggest that your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 can handle up to 2x32GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks -yes, I kid you not: https://www.crucial.com/scanview/8744fbb031d926c3?srsltid=AfmBOooKeoMYYyk4olPmORJMiPvM_9LQHmUeYBMhbS....

But in order to ascertain once and for all how much RAM your laptop can actually be fitted with, please use the following way to find out:

Open up cmd and Run as administrator. This will open the command prompt.

Copy/paste/Enter: wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx

This will show the maximum RAM capacity (in kilobytes) your 15-eg2000 supports.

Note: To calculate the gigabyte value, you must then divide by 1,048,576.

For example, the PC I am working with right now says: 67108864.  Divide that by 1048576, and you get 64GB.

Kind Regards,
