My  HP 15 ay542tu Notebook (came with DOS) has been showing Hard Disk 1 (301) error for months. so I searched in the community for solutions and found 1 answer many times 'Replace'.  

Can I Replace 1TB HDD(5400 rpm) with 500GB HDD?

Hi:

 

You can replace the 1 TB hard drive with a 500 GB drive if you don't need 1 TB of drive space.
