I am planning to add an SSD in my laptop. But I dont know if I have any M2 slots and if there is, is it sata or nvme?
I would like to avoid buying a 2.5 inch ssd as they are a lot slower than nvme ssd.

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c05272353
The series supports dual storage with M.2 SATA SSD + 2.5" SATA HDD (as mentioned on page 2) therefore you can add M.2 SATA SSD drive to your machine.
Regards.
