Hello,
I have an old HP Pavilion dv7-6c71el with a 500Gb hd and I'm wondering if I could replace it with a 500Gb ssd.
Could you please help me, suggesting some ssd compatible models?
Thank you very much.

Yes and that older dv7 model actually has twin hard drive bays so you can install an SSD and keep the original hard drive as long as you get an SSD AND a mounting backet with cable.
I've had good luck with Silicon Power as a budget SSD:
Caddy shown is from dv6-6000 but will fit and work for you. See pp. 56-59 here:
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thank you very much for your fast and full reply, Huffer.
I would ask to you just one more thing before close my post.
Since I'd prefer to buy on amazon, could you tell me if one of those two caddies I found are ok for me?
Thanks a lot!
