Can I upgrade to 16 GB RAM a WIndows 64 HP Laptop model 15-dw0088ca?

About this computer, I have only found this specification: "Memory, standard - 8 GB DDR4-2400 MHz RAM (1 x 8 GB)"

Question: Is this 1 x 8 GB the maximum RAM memory the laptop accepts or it can be upgraded to 16GB of RAM?

(I am asking this question because I installed a software named Siemens TIA Portal, used in industrial automation, which together with Windows 10 64bit occupy over 90% of the already installed 8 GB RAM, and the computer struggles.)

Hi,

You can upgrade to max 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM (2x16GB)

You have one 8GB module at the moment, so you could add another 8GB module in the empty slot for a total of 16GB

You can insert faster RAM which will run at 2400Mhz

Example

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-dw0088ca

On page 39 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM

Hope it helps,

Iomare,

I highly appreciate you answer. So, in conclusion,  an upgrade to 16 GB of RAM is possible.

Also I do not have an immediate need for 32 GB RAM, I do not really find, in the manual you indicated, that my model 15-dw0088ca can accept a memory so big. This is what I found regarding the RAM:

Memory Two SODIMM memory module slots, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable (Core processors)
Supports up to 16 GB of system memory
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (8th generation Core processors)
DDR4-2133 dual channel support (7th generation Core processors)
Supports the following configurations
● 16 GB (8 GB × 2)
● 12 GB (8 GB × 1 + 4 GB × 1)
● 8 GB (8 GB × 1 or 4 GB × 2)
● 4 GB (4 GB × 1)
One SODIMM memory module slot, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable (Pentium and Celeron
processors)
DDR4-2400 dual channel support
Supports the following configurations
● 8 GB (8 GB × 1)
● 4 GB (4 GB × 1)

You're welcome.

Yes, the manual only mentions the amount of RAM models in those series could come with.

However, your machine will support 32GB of RAM.

Hope it helps,

David
